Swimming Structure
Island Swimming is the Association title for the
Victoria Amateur Swim Club, Juan de Fuca Coho Swim Club and Tyee
Aquatic Club. Swimmers who reach Provincial levels (AAA) and above
compete under the Club title of "Island Swimming". Younger
swimmers work towards the Provincial level standards under their
home club title. As an association, we take pride in helping each
other run successful and fun swim meets.
Our training groups are designed to complement
the abilities and skill development of all athletes. Many swimmers
will move training groups throughout the year as their skills
develop and they need further challenge.
Island Swimming
Philosophy
At Island Swimming we are "Committed to
Excellence" in providing an opportunity for each of our swimmers to
attain his or her maximum potential in competitive swimming. We
believe in a long-term approach to the sport, ensuring our athletes
continue with the club for many years. In the early years, we
emphasize fun, skill development and a love for swimming. In the
later years, the training schedule becomes more physically and
emotionally demanding.
