Swimming Canada – Use of Personal Information

The personal information you provide to the Club from registration will be used for the purposes reasonably associated with the swimming activities conducted by the Club, the Provincial Section (PS) and/or Swimming Canada in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). These include:

  1. Association registration;
  2. Insurance coverage;
  3. National, provincial and event registration;
  4. Training and competition participation;
  5. Competition result publication;
  6. Reporting non-identifying, demographic and participation statistics to funders, sponsors and other authorized third parties
  7. Making direct contact with registrants, volunteers and staff as necessary for the operations of the Club, PS and Swimming Canada.

Personal information may be used for different swimming activities for Swimmers, Coaches and Officials.

 Swimmer

The personal information collected will include name, gender, year of birth, contact information and club of affiliation

  1. Ensuring swimmers train and compete in an age appropriate environment;
  2. Establishing athlete eligibility for selection to swim teams;
  3. Establishing pertinent medical records and baseline performance data to assist coaching decisions in a national team competitive or training setting;
  4. Reporting and publishing athletes’ name, gender, age, club affiliation on Swimming Canada web pages or in results, news releases and ranking reports.

Coach

The personal information collected will include name, gender, year of birth, contact information, club of affiliation, NCCP#, certification level and progression.

  1. Reporting and publishing name, certification level, gender, club affiliation on Swimming Canada web pages or news releases and reports;
  2. Compiling statistical reports;
  3. Submission of information to FINA, Sport Canada and Canadian Swimming Coaches Association (CSCA) to allow for participation in international events for coaches;
  4. Submission of information to the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) to administer the National Coaching Certification Program and maintain the associated database.

Officials

The personal information collected will include name, gender, year of birth, contact information, club of affiliation, certification level and progression.

  1. Reporting and publishing name, certification level, gender, club affiliation on Swimming Canada web pages or news releases and reports;
  2. Compiling statistical reports
