SCP General Procedures

General Procedures for Athletes at Saanich Commonwealth Place

Athletes will meet at the South Entrance (next to the Island Swimming office). Parking and drop off/ pick up is not permitted in the area in front of the office. Parking and drop off/ pick up should take place is the front lots.

Athletes and Coaches will enter building, once invited in by SCP staff, they will proceed down the south hallway (where they entered) , behind the Cashier’s desk and then along the north hallway to the Team Change rooms. No late entry will be permitted.

Physical Distancing is expected at all times while waiting outside for the doors to open and while in the building.

Pool entry will be through the Team Change rooms. Occupancy of these change rooms is only three people so if someone needs to use the washroom or sink on the way in they should come in  near the end of the line.

Athletes will be assigned a lane by their coach. One swimmer per lane. You will be swimming at the east end of the competition pool.

Lockers are not available. Athletes will bring their back packs or clothing out to the pool deck and drop it in the basket that has been assigned to their lane. Baskets can be moved off the bulkhead beside the starting blocks to keep them dry. Swim kit bags and water bottles can be left at the end of pool for easy access.

At the end of the swim athletes are asked to quickly exit the pool, grab their belongings from their baskets. Athletes will take their baskets to the Sanitation Station and spray down their basket. Baskets can  be placed on floor to dry.

Exit from the pool deck will be through the lobby door which will be open. Athletes move quickly through the lower lobby and back down the hallway towards the Athletes entrance.

Another group will be gathering in the parking lot outside the Athletes entrance ready for their entrance at 9:15 am so it is important to move of the deck quickly and out of the building.

Return to Swim right now is a privilege.

Access can be revoked if these procedures are not followed.
