Registration & Membership Agreement

ISC Registration & Membership Agreement 2020/2021

The Membership Contract applies to all members equally and is intended to ensure all members understand their commitment to the operation and continued progress of Island Swimming Club (ISC).

Membership:

The By-Laws of ISC provide that: 

5. (2) A Regular Member is either: 

  1. In the case of a swimmer under age 18, who is currently enrolled in the Society’s programs and for whom current Annual Membership Fees have been paid, any parent or guardian of the swimmer, or 
  2. In the case of a swimmer who has attained age 18, is currently enrolled in the Society’s program and who has paid current Annual Membership Fees, the swimmer. The swimmer may elect to appoint their parent or guardian to act on their behalf by notifying the Secretary, in writing, of this decision. 

Participation:

The Island Swimming Club (ISC) strives to ensure a safe environment for its swimmers. However, members should understand that, without neglect on the part of the swimmer or ISC, injuries can occur because of the inherent nature of the activity.

The member authorizes the swimmer to participate in ISC activities including local and out-of-town meets and releases ISC, its Board of Directors, coaches and chaperones from any and all claims which may arise by reason of the swimmer’s participation in ISC activities, including any and all claims which may arise due to bodily injury or illness.

The member authorizes ISC, its Board of Directors, coaches, chaperones and/or any representative of ISC to authorize such medical attention as may be deemed necessary and appropriate in the circumstances should a swimmer suffer an injury or illness while participating in ISC activities and agrees to pay for all medical and any other related expenses incurred in such an event.

The member releases ISC, its Board of Directors, coaches, chaperones and/or any representative of ISC from any claim arising from the medical treatment a swimmer receives while participating in ISC activities.

The member agrees that all members and swimmers will comply with all ISC policies and any communicated expectations as established by ISC, its Board of Directors, coaches, chaperones and/or any representative of ISC. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action. Any costs incurred by reason of the termination of a swimmer’s participation in any ISC activities and/or as a result of the swimmer being sent home will be the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian.

The member agrees that all swimmers will be subject to an Athlete Code of Conduct, which is posted on the ISC website, and must comply with the Code of Conduct or face possible disciplinary action. In addition, the member agrees that, as applicable, it will comply with the ISC Member Code of Conduct.

Terms:

In consideration of acceptance of my registration as a Member of ISC, I/we agree to the following:

  1. ISC terms of Registration and Membership as outlined in this agreement
  2. The ISC COVID -19 Participation Consent
  3. The Payment of all ISC, training, and other fees, and Swim BC fees as outlined below.
  4. Completion of the Swimming Canada Assumption of Risk Form on the Swimming Canada Registration system.

Registration is not guaranteed and swimmers are not able to enter the water until the following fees have been paid:

  • ISC Society Fee of $20 per family
  • Non-refundable Swim BC Registration. *For the start of the 2020/21 season, all swimmers will register as Pre-Competitive. An upgrade to Competitive fees will be required when competition resumes.

Fees and other Charges (in addition to above):

  • Training Fees:  Members will be charged a monthly training fees for each swimmer.  These fees are for facility use, coaching and related costs. 
  • Monthly training fees will be adjusted as more pool time becomes available and will be communicated to members as the information is available.
  • Other ISC fees such as the cost of meet entries, travel, club activities and equipment are not included in Training Fees. These will be billed to the member’s account.  ISC may require that all or part of these fees be paid in advance of travel or activities before swimmers will be permitted to participate.
  • Overdue Account Fees: Accounts overdue over 15 days from the date of the statement may be charged interest at the rate of 3% per month (36% annually).

Monthly Payment Procedure:

Payments can be made by direct debit (CAFT), e-transfer or credit card.   

Training fees will be billed to swimmer accounts on the first of each month. Account statements will be sent on the 2nd of the month (or closest business day). Training fees and any outstanding amounts from the previous month will be charged or debited on the 15th of the month.

Safe Sport Training:

All registered members are required to have 1 adult family member complete NCCP Safe Sport Training. This is a free, online course that takes 60 - 90 minutes to complete. Details of how to complete Safe Sport Training will be forwarded by the ISC office.

Volunteer Obligations:

Under normal circumstances, ISC relies on Member Volunteers for significant management of club hosted meets and activities.  At this time there are no meets or activities scheduled for the season. Volunteers will be required when competition resumes.

Withdrawal:

A Member who chooses to withdraw, either on behalf of themselves or their child/children, from ISC must provide written notice to the office (adminoffice@islandswimming.com). This notice must be received in the month prior to which the withdrawal will take place.

Privacy Policy:

The Swimming Canada Use of Personal Information memo, governs ISC and its Members.

Media Permission:

Group photographs: Members consent to the posting or publication of Group photographs provided that individual swimmers are not identified. 

Members also consent to the posting of photographs of individual swimmers or their parents and siblings on the ISC website, bulletin boards, newsletters and related publications, and the inclusion of the names and achievements of swimmers with photographs or in team stories UNLESS a Member has withdrawn such consent in writing by notifying adminoffice@islandswimming.com. If such consent is withdrawn, the affected swimmer will not be permitted to participate in group or team photographs.
