Pre-Competitive Programs : Island Swim Skills Team

Location: Commonwealth Place and/or Juan De Fuca

Fall practices start the week of September 18, 2023

The Island Swim Skills Team is suitable for swimmers from 6 - 11 who have previous ISS experience or are a minimum of Swim Kids Level 4. Swimmers MUST be comfortable in deep water. This program runs in the competition pool and coaches are not in the water with the swimmers.

The new Island Swim Skills Team offers open registration. Swimmers will be placed in lanes at practice based on age and swimming ability.

Program Days: 14 available practices per week at Commonwealth (SCP) or Juan de Fuca (JDF) pools. Families can choose the 2 or 3 days, times and location that best fit your schedule.

Program Information:

Choose Two weekly swimming sessions for swimmers 6 - 8 ($95/month)
Swimmers 9 and over, choose Three weekly practices ($120/month)
Five optional in house iRace meets throughout the season - a fun, low key introduction to competitive swimming
Prerequisites: previous Island Swim Skills Team experience or assessment by our coaches
Required Equipment: Googles, proper swim suit (no bikinis or board shorts), swim cap is optional

Conditioning & Technique (C&T)

11 - 18 years old
1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 times per week

Pre-Competitive Programs : Conditioning & Technique (C&T)

Conditioning & Technique

Location: Saanich Commonwealth Pool

Fall practices start the week of September 18, 2023

The Conditioning and Technique group (formally Island Youth) is suitable for anyone over the age of 11 year olds. Swimmers who want to swim for fitness or cross train for other sports will enjoy this program. Swimmers in this group are not required to compete, but will have the option to do so if interested. Swimmers will be given coached swim workouts and tips to improve their technique and endurance.

Practice Options: (swimmers can choose 1 - 5 practices per week).

Monday evening 7:30 - 8:30
Wednesday evening 7:30 - 8:30
Friday evening 7:30 - 8:30
Saturday mid afternoon 1 - 2pm **Note- the pool is in long course (50m) configuration
Sunday late morning 10:00 - 11:30

Please Note: Conditioning and Technique is not available during July and August.

Required Equipment: Cap, Googles, proper suit (no bikinis or board shorts)
